🇺🇸 English: Authentic late 19th-century original illustrated front cover from the famous French newspaper Le Petit Journal, dated Saturday, August 27, 1892 (Issue No. 92). A rare and historical piece of colonial-era graphic art. The detailed color engraving depicts Moroccan tribal chiefs in traditional burnous and turbans gathering under the ornate carved arches of a Moorish palace. They are shown raising their traditional swords (nimcha) and rifles (moukhala) to swear an oath of fidelity and allegiance to the Sultan of Morocco.
