This old postcard represents the
architecture located in the historic center of Namur, Belgium.
Here are some key details about this remarkable building:

Construction: It was built between 1621 and 1645 by the Jesuit architect Pieter Huyssens. Originally, it was dedicated to Saint Ignatius of Loyola before being dedicated to Saint Wolf in 1777.
Architectural Style: This is one of the finest examples of Baroque art in the ancient southern Netherlands. Its facade is directly inspired by the church of the Gesù in Rome.
Unique Interior: The church is famous for its sumptuous interior, including its red and black marble columns and its vaults richly carved in blond tufa (a sandstone).
Anecdote littéraire: Charles Baudelaire was so impressed by this building that he called it "terrible and delicious catafalque". It was while leaving this church that he was the victim of a malaise in 1866.
